The City of Ostend’s ambitious vision was realized during the renovation of the Sea Heroes Square. This involved not only refurbishing the square but also transforming it into a true hotspot. Here, everyone can not only enjoy the sea to the fullest but also reflect on the city and themselves. Consequently, the City of Ostend immediately decided to erect a permanent art monument at this site. “The Rock Stranger” is Arne Quinze’s first metal installation, measuring 100 meters in diameter, and was one of the officially selected works for Beaufort04, the Belgian Coastal Contemporary Art Triennial.
